A Sox Swap: Chicago Sends Anderson to Boston for Kotsay

by Ben Cook on July 28, 2009

According to White Sox VP Scott Reifert, the Chicago White Sox have traded centerfielder Brian Anderson to the Boston Red Sox for firstbaseman/outfielder Mark Kotsay.

Neither player is having a good year and in fact Kotsay was designated for assignment by the Red Sox on Saturday. He's hitting .257 in 27 games since coming off the DL in June.

Anderson is hitting only .238 in 67 games this year and has also had a stint on the DL.

Anderson is making about a million dollars less than Kotsay this year but the financial details of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
