A’s Send Swisher to White Sox

by Ben Cook on January 3, 2008

The rebuilding process continues for the Oakland A's. The team today traded outfielder Nick Swisher to the White Sox for three minor leaguers. Swisher batted .262, hit 22 home runs and drove in 78 runs in 2007. The A's on the other hand get the top two prospects in the White Sox's system, including Gio Gonzalez who led minor leaguers last year with 185 strike outs, is left handed, and might compete for a big league spot.

The move provides the A's even more talent in an already stacked farm system and should provide the Sox with a solution to their center field issue. While this type of deal usually takes a while to determine a clear "winner", I'm leaning towards the A's on this one.
