Breaking: Bonds Indicted!

by Ben Cook on November 15, 2007

While many fans might view it as "too little, too late", a federal grand jury has indicted Barry Bonds on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. Bonds is reportedly being charged for telling the grand jury that he had never knowingly taken steroids and that Greg Anderson, his long time personal trainer, had never injected him with steroids.

"During the criminal investigation, evidence was obtained including positive tests for the presence of anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing substances for Bonds and other athletes," the indictment reads.

No word yet on the rumor that prosecutors plan to present Barry's gigantic melon as the only piece of evidence required for a conviction. Call it a hunch but I'm going to go ahead and create a Barry Bonds Indictment category. I think we might be hearing more about this in the days and weeks to come.

Unashamed Plug: Here's a link to pops' Drugs in Sports cartoons (most starring Barry himself). Just click on the headlines to view the cartoons full size. And just added: Proposed Bonds HOF Exhibit…

The “other athletes” could end up being the big story here. The question is if those names will ever be released.

It’s a sad day for a legal system. Fact, he lied and that is a crime. Lawyer should have advised him to plead the fifth. Fact, this is the Balco invesigation nothing to do with Senate hearing involving Slammin (steriod) Sosa, Ralphy, and Big Mac. If Barry is going to go to jail for lying then all these athletes getting caught buying illegal drugs without a legal presrciption should be jailed as well. Fact.
