Cubs Trade for Two Pirate Pitchers

by Ben Cook on July 30, 2009

The Chicago Cubs have reportedly traded for two Pittsburgh Pirate pitchers, John Grabow and Tom Gorzelanny, in exchange for "RHP Kevin Hart, RHP Jose Ascanio, 3B Josh Harrison."

The Cubs have been looking for a left-handed reliever and Grabow certainly qualifies with 16 holds and an ERA of 3.42 ERA. They also receive an enigmatic starter, in Gorzelanny, who is just two years removed from a 14 win season.

The Pirates are continuing their massive overhaul/fire-sale having traded away 13 players from their opening day roster.
