Rumor: Rays Exploring Free Agent Market

According to the Tampa Tribune the Rays, along with several other teams are still pursuing left-handed reliever Ron Mahay and the St. Petersburg Times has them looking to pick up utility infielder Rob Mackowiak. But both sources agree that the real talk of the town is the Rays' top draft pick and College Player of the Year, lefty David Price. Speculation is centered around how long it will take Tampa Bay to promote him to the majors with some speculating it could be sometime this season. For now, he's scheduled to train with the team this spring and then report to the minors.
