Rumor: Red Sox and Twins Get Serious Over Santana

With the Tigers having nabbed Cabrera the focus moves to Johan Santana and the Boston Herald is reporting that the Sox and Twins negotiated deep into the night last night. Boston seems intent on not including top prospect Clay Bucholz in the deal but is still willing to put together a blockbuster package that could include either Southpaw John Lester OR center-fielder Jacob Elsbury as the star attraction along with Coco Crisp and some combination of prospects Jed Lowrie , Ryan Kalish and Justin Masterson.Of course Boston will still need to outbid the Angels and (in spite of claiming to be out of the bidding) the Yankees. And there's always the possibility that another team will jump into the fray or that the Twins will decide to hold onto Santana but the momentum seems to be there for a deal to happen and for it to happen sooner rather than later.
