ESPN.com is reporting that Roger Clemens will begin to fulfill his personal service contract with the Houston Astros. Clemens will reportedly be a consultant for the 'Stros, a sign his agent says that "He's moving toward retirement [but] leaving open the possibility of playing,"
Hmm, now that sounds familiar doesn't it? You've really got to wonder how long the Astros and Yankees will let a mediocre pitcher jerk them around to the tune of millions of dollars per start. I realize Clemens might have been the best pitcher of his generation but the man is 45 years old and was 6-6 last year with an ERA above 4. That's pretty amazing for a man his age but really is that worth the $17.4 million (or nearly $3 million per win) the Yankees paid for him? I don't think so.

If he keeps on as a part time pitcher much longer, he’ll be eligible for Social Security before he’s eligible for the Hall of Fame!
