Today is apparently free agent pitcher Carlos Silva's day in the hot stove spotlight. We've got reports that both the Royals and the Mariners have made Silva offers. The Royals offer is rumored to be for 3 years and worth around $30 million while Seattle's offer is said to be in the neighborhood of 4 years for a total of $44 million. If the figure for the Mariners' offer is accurate, you'd think they'd be strong front runners to land the former Twin. Silva could very well be this year's Gil Meche but my goodness, an average annual value of $11 million for a pitcher who went 13-14 last year with a 4.19 ERA?
