Pioneer Press columnist Charlie Walters is reporting that Boston is the current favorite in the bidding for the Twins highly sought after pitcher, Johan Santana. The price is rumored to be center fielder Coco Crisp, shortstop prospect Jed Lowry, lefty Jon Lester, and right-hander Justin Masterson.
Before completing the trade the Red Sox will need to work out a contract extension with Johan who will a free-agent at the end of the 2008 season. No word yet on whether the new contract will include a no-trade Santana Clause (just in time for Christmas).
