The Hot Stove is smoking but we're unlinkely to see any real flames until next week's Winter Meetings in Nashville. With a shallow free-agent pool, teams will have to resort to old-fashioned wheeling and dealing.
The focus of most attention is, of course, Johan Santana who Minnesota has on the block. The Twinkies are hoping that a bidding war between Boston and the Yankees will net them a raft of young talent although some people are questioning if either team will actually be willing to give up the number of prospects the Twins are asking PLUS commit themselves to big-money contract extension for Santana who is eligible for free-agency after next season.
