It appears that a nine-time All-Star Vladimir Guerrero will get a shot at a workout with the Arizona Diamondbacks at their complex in the Dominican Republic
The reports lit up the wire shortly after D-backs general manager Kevin Towers made the announcement during a television interview with FOX Sports Arizona on Sunday.
The 2004 AL MVP with the Los Angeles Angels, became a free agent after hitting just .290 with 13 home runs and 63 RBIs in 145 games at Baltimore last year. The lowest of his career.
Primarily a right fielder in his prime, the 37-year old slugger has been used almost exclusively as a DH in his last three seasons.
Throughout his 16-year career , Guerrero has 449 homers and could bring some much-needed pop to a D-backs lineup that is missing one of its key components in Chris Young, who is on the bench with a slightly torn ligament in his right shoulder.
Guerrero has over 2,500 hits dating back to his rookie season in 1996.
