Marlins, BoSox Discussing Blockbuster Deal?

Could Hanley Ramirez be headed back to Boston? That’s a possibility, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, as he tweeted that the Marlins and Red Sox are kicking around ideas for a blockbuster deal that would send Ramirez and Heath Bell to Boston for Carl Crawford and a prospect.

Ramirez was originally a Red Sox prospect that they traded to the Marlins in the deal that got back Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell, so it’d be a homecoming of sorts for the star infielder.

Crawford, who signed a big free agent deal before the 2011 season, spent the first half of the season on the DL but is 4-for-7 with 4 runs scored and 3 stolen bases in his first couple games back.

A trade involving these marquee names would be big news, but Buster Olney of ESPN does not think there is anything to the rumor.
