Cubs’ finalize deal with Jackson for four-years; $52M

It’s official; the Chicago Cubs will be the 8th team in 11 seasons for Edwin Jackson.

A person close to club told Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago, that the team has finalized an agreement with Jackson for four years and $52 million, pending a physical.

It was speculated earlier in the day that the Cubs were close to signing the right-hander, but it was still thought that Jackson may come at too high of a price tag, considering he did not pitch well in 2012 after settling for a one-year, $11 million deal last offseason.

Nevertheless, middle-tier free agents have done pretty well this offseason, and Jackson seems to have notched a good deal too.

The 29-year old is 70-71 lifetime with a 4.40 ERA, and was 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA for Washington last season

He will join Matt Garza, Jeff Samardzija, Scott Feldman and Travis Wood, filling out a very good Cubs rotation.
