The Sun-Times reports that the Cubs have signed Kerry Wood to a one-year $4.2 million deal. Wood is expected to vye for the closer role. The Cubbies are also trying to decide whether to offer arbitration to Mark Prior who missed the 'o7 season and isn't expected to return to the rotation until sometime after opening day in 'o8. If they offer arbitration, $2.86 million is the lowest amount Prior could receive for next season and he'd be eligible for free-agency in 2009.
