Indians and Nick Swisher to meet

by Matthew on December 17, 2012

Early reports on Monday are that the Cleveland Indians are making a push to land free agent outfielder Nick Swisher. This according to Buster Olney of ESPN.com

Swisher is the top-hitting outfielder remaining on the free-agent market in the wake of Josh Hamilton signing with the Angels last week.

The 32-year old switch-hitter notched a .837 OPS in 2012, the 19th-best mark among outfielders.

The Indians interest in Swisher makes sense since they have an opening in the outfield having traded Shin-Soo Choo deal.

Swisher is expected to visit with the Indians in Cleveland on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, and he and the Tribe can nail down a deal, the Mariners and Rangers — two others thought to be interested in Swisher — would be out of the running.
