The Halos have themselves another ace – Zack Greinke has been dealt to the Angels for a trio of minor league prospects, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweeted.

Highly-touted infield prospect Jean Segura is headed to Milwaukee in the deal, along with Double-A pitchers John Hellweg and Ariel Pena. All are high-ranked prospects from the Angels’ system, Jon Morosi tweets.

Greinke, 28, is headed to L.A. to join a rotation that already includes Jered Weaver, Dan Haren, and C.J. Wilson. He is a free agent after this season, but we heard earlier this week that he would be open to signing an extension with the Angels if he were to be traded there.

Greinke was the A.L. Cy Young Award winner in 2009 and led the Brewers to the N.L. Central title last season. He 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA in 21 starts for the Brew Crew this season.
