Is Han-Ram Wearing Out His Welcome in Miami?

Hanley Ramirez’s latest antics, the looming of the trade deadline, and the Marlins’ aggressive move into sell mode may be creating the prefect conditions for the team to ship the shortstop out of town.

Scott Miller of CBSSports.com wrote in his column this morning that the time may be right for a Ramirez deal, as the team looks to shake up the mix of the team and find some better chemistry.

Ramirez, 28, is currently on the day-to-day with an infection on his hand. He punched a bullpen cooling fan July 8, sustained a cut on his hand, and then didn’t take the medication he was prescribed and an infection developed. This latest act of defiance is one of many that the team has dealt with over the team’s seven-year relationship with their star player.

Should the Fish actually dangle Ramirez as trade bait, he should get many suitors. There was some talk last week that he could return to the Red Sox, but those rumors quickly ran out of steam.

Ramirez is hitting .246 with 14 home runs and 47 RBI this season, and has swiped 14 bases in 18 tries. He is signed through 2014, and will make $31.5 million over the next two years.

Spread the Rumor!
