Carlos Lee continues to draw Trade Interest

Even as the 2012 Major League Baseball season winds down, first baseman Carlos Lee is still drawing trade interest from teams seeking right-handed hitters, including the Giants.

This according to Yahoo’s Tim Brown.

Lee, a free agent at the end of this season, however, can block deals to 14 teams if he chooses, making it a long shot that he would be dealt to anyone, especially after blocking three proposed deals earlier this summer with the Yankees, Baltimore and Los Angeles.

Nevertheless, if the Marlins want to move Lee, they will need to do so by August 31.

However, it is unclear how motivated Miami really is, and since they are only responsible for paying Lee the pro-rated portion of the MLB minimum salary, while the Astros are covering the rest of his $18.5MM salary, it would seem they would want something good in return.

The 36-year-old has a .278/.346/.388 batting line in 486 total plate appearances for the Astros and Marlins this year.
