Twins to Talk to Willingham, Cuddyer Offer Still on the Table

Free agent Michael Cuddyer has a 3-year, $25 million offer on the table from the Twins but he has not taken it, so the team will begin talking to the agent for Josh Willingham, SI.com’s Jon Heyman tweets.

Cuddyer is a very versatile player, having played extensively at all corner outfield and corner infield positions, and even second base. I’m thinking he’d be a great fit for a National League team where he could be a manger’s dream when it comes to the double switch.

Willingham, 32, hit .246 with 29 home runs and 98 RBI in 2011 for the A’s. The A’s play in one of the most pitcher friendly parks in MLB.

Yesterday Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reported that the Tampa Bay Rays are making a push for Willingham.

Crasnick has said that as many as nine teams are in on the free agent slugger. Other teams with rumored interest include the Pirates, Red Sox, Indians, and Reds.
