Well it looks like the Twins are starting to realize the season is slipping away from them , and are beginning to look at several reasons why.
And one is Danny Valencia according to Patrick Reusse of 1500ESPN.com who reports that the Twins are trying to trade the 27-year old third baseman.
So far Valencia has been terrible this season, batting just .224/.230/.341 with a .239 wOBA in 87 plate appearances.
At that rate, he is on pace for a .288 wOBA with 11 home runs just after he sported a puny .246/.294/.383 line in 2011.
The Twins can’t expect too much in exchange for him though. However, Valencia could he fetch a low level prospect, or heck, maybe more if they get lucky and a team is high on him.
Can’t imagine that as any prospective buyer would probably only be interested in Valencia as a backup infielder and nothing else.
Bottom line. It’s not a surprise Twins want to rid themselves of Valencia, to pursue other options. Even if they are just prospects.
