Yankees sign Youkilis

Kevin Youkilis will be the fourth player from 2004 Red Sox to later play for Yankees.

Besides Johnny Damon, Derek Lowe and Mike Myers, Youkilis will now swing a bat in the Bronx after agreeing to a one-year, $12 million deal according to a source close to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.

Just last week Youkilis was mulling over two offers — one from the Indians and the other from the Yanks.

However, the Mark Reynolds’ deal with the Indians probably solidified Youkilis’s decision to stay on the East Coast, as it should provide a nice fit since it’s likely he will start the 2013 season at third base until Alex Rodriguez returns from mid-January hip surgery. The 33-year old infielder

Youk hit just .233/.315/.377 with four homers across 165 plate appearances with the Red Sox last season, before being dealt to the White Sox where he bounced back boosting his slash line to .236/.346/.425 with 15 home runs in 344 plate appearances.
