Cliff Lee on the Move?

by Ben Cook on July 30, 2012

The Philadelphia Phillies may be willing to part ways with starting pitcher Cliff Lee and they appear to have several suitors.

Buster Olney tweets that the Texas Rangers are the most likely fit:

The Yankees, Dodgers, Braves and even Cardinals have all been mentioned in connneciton to Lee, however Ken Rosenthal has already shot down several of those options:

It would be hard to imagine the St. Louis Cardinals spending that much money with Adam Wainwright likely demanding a large contract sooner rather than later.

While the Phillies are obviously struggling this year, I have a hard time believing they’ll find any team willing to take on Lee’s lofty contract AND give up anything other than players to be named later.

Spread the Rumor!
