Phillies Deal Two Pitchers for Ben Revere

The Philadelphia Phillies today acquired center fielder Ben Revere from the Twins, sending right hander Vance Worley and prospect Trevor May, tweets Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia.

Revere, 24, is the second center fielder the Twins have dealt in a week. They sent Denard Span to the Reds last week.

As Salisbury notes, Revere will be the Phillies’ everyday center fielder. Last season he played in 124 games for Minnesota and hit .294/.333/.342. He’s also a big time threat on the basepaths, as he stole 40 bags in 49 tries in 2012.

The Twins may be out of center fielders now, but they pick up two much-needed pitchers in Worley and May. The 25-year-old Worley has started for the Phillies the last two seasons. In 2012, he was 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA in 23 starts. May is 23 years old and pitched in Double-A last season. He was a fourth round pick in the 2008 amateur draft.
