There was some trade speculation surrounding free-agent-to-be Huston Street, but those rumors should be put to rest now with the news the the Padres have signed their closer to a two-year extension.
Street, 28, was an All Star this season and has been very effective for the Padres, going 2-0 with an 0.91 ERA and 17 saves. He has not blown a save yet this season.
With the new contract, he will make $7 million each of the next two seasons, and could make another $7 million in 2015 if the team picks up an option year.
Street was a first round draft pick of the A’s back in 2004 and was the A.L. Rookie of the Year in 2005. The Padres picked him up last offseason in a trade with the Rockies.
