Padres Get Huston Street in Trade With Rockies

UPDATE: The deal is done, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com. The Padres have acquired Huston Street from the Rockies for a player to be named later. The Padres will pay all of Street’s 2012 salary.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com tweeted that the Padres and Rockies are in “extensive” talks for Rockies closer Huston Street.

Having already lost closer Heath Bell to the Marlins via free agency, San Diego is looking at other options for the back end of the bullpen. Jon Heyman of SI.com tweeted earlier today that, with little to spend, the Padres are likely going the trade route to fill their need.
