Torres was a member of the 2010 world champion Giants, but was traded to the Mets following the 2011 season. After one year out of San Fran, he’s headed back as a platoon outfielder.

The 34-year0-old switch hitter hit .230 with 3 home runs and 35 RBI in 132 games for the Mets last season. Baggerly says that he will make $2 million in 2013.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com tweets that this signing should put the Giants out of the Nick Swisher sweepstakes. San Francisco was reportedly Swisher’s preferred destination.
