Jon Heyman has reported on Twitter that the Giants and infielder Ryan Theriot have agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million deal. He could earn as much as $2 million total by reaching incentives.
Theriot won a ring with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011, hitting .271 with one homer and 47 RBI in just under 500 plate appearances. The 32-year-old veteran can play both second and short, and could serve as either a backup option at those positions for the Giants or even get some starting time at shortstop.
