Several sources are reporting that the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are close to signing Troy Percival to a multi-year deal. Percival is of course the long time closer that resurrected his career with the St. Louis Cardinals last year after a brief retirement. The reliever had an impressive 1.80 ERA in 40 innings and as a Cardinal fan I'll be sad to see him go. The Rays currently have a closer in Al Reyes (also a former Cardinal) so it's likely Percival will remain a setup man much like he did last year. However, should Reyes stumble the Rays would certainly have a good plan B which may also allow them to trade Reyes during the season.
