Rays May Trade James Shields

Add James Sheilds to the list of available starting pitchers that could be on the move between now and next Tuesday. The Rays have told teams they’ll listen on any starter other than David Price and Matt Moore, and their 30-year-old righty should get the most interest, Dan Knobler tweets.

The Angels, Dodgers, and Rangers all could be in on Shields, as they’re all teams that are linked with other starters.

Shields was an All Star in 2011 and finished 3rd in A.L. Cy Young Award voting after posting a 16-12 record with a 2.82 ERA. This season he is 8-6 with a 4.39 ERA in 20 starts. He is durable, throwing over 200 innings in the last five consecutive seasons. He makes $7 million this year, with team options for 2013 and 2014.
