Rumor: Rangers Off Center

by Ben Cook on November 10, 2007

The Texas Rangers are reportedly having a difficult time deciding on center fielder despite the plethora to choose from. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that the Rangers are interested in Andruw Jones but only on a short term deal. Apparently the market for Coco Crisp will likely delay any action taken by the Red Sox, and the price for Tori Hunter will probably be too much for Texas to handle.

So, what options does that leave? On the free agent market "Aaron Rowand and Mike Cameron appear to be fall-back options" and in terms of a possible trade, the Rangers apparently match up well with several teams due to their depth at catching. Oh, and in case anyone's forgotten, Alex Rodriquez also gave the Rangers an early Christmas present by opting out of the remaining years of his contract, freeing up a nice chunk of change that will likely help fill just these kinds of gaps on the Ranger team.

Spread the Rumor!
